DD Little

Cowboys have been on my mind for the past couple of weeks, ever since I found a review for Cowboy Food, by D.D. Little.
I had been waiting for the book to arrive. Sometimes patiently and sometimes not so patiently. When it finally got here, I sat down and read it through…thoroughly…cooking the different recipes in my mind and imagining the tastes.
I had so much fun reading through Cowboy Food that I lost track of time. I had no idea there were so many different recipes for one dish! I have to tell you that the two recipes I chose to try are now all-time favorites. First, was Black Bean Chili (BBC) that had a great taste to it with the spices being just right. Of course, DD Little intends for you to adjust the recipe to your liking. We’re big fans of black beans so this one was a no-brainer to try.
The other recipe, Fry Pan Chili, got my curiosity up because the author suggested this for…breakfast? Yup…you read that right.
It could be for dinner or breakfast. If you were having it for breakfast, he suggested a side of scrambled eggs. This is, hands down, my very, very favorite recipe and one solid go to breakfast. It was hard to walk away from the table because it tasted so good with the meat, hash browns, onions, spices and steak sauce of your choice. Recipes are posted under Food and then Tex-Mex.
